Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Parole Agent 1 trainee to supervise individuals on probation or parole and guide their successful transition back into the community. The role includes field visits, coordinating with employers and counselors, and developing supervision plans during a 12-month training period.

Successful completion leads to Parole Agent 2 with a higher salary. The position requires a PA driver’s license, CJIS compliance, and completion of the Parole Agent 1 training

Qualifications

• Four years of paraprofessional experience including two years in social services, corrections, or law enforcement or
• Two years of paraprofessional social/human services experience with an associate’s degree or
• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, or related field or
• Equivalent combination of experience and training. Applicants may meet educational requirements within 3 months of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Field Operations: meet parolees at home or work using a state vehicle
• Community Outreach: coordinate with employers, counselors, and families to support progress
• Treatment Planning: develop and update supervision plans based on individual needs
• Case Guidance: assist parolees with personal challenges affecting transition
• Agency Referrals: refer to programs for employment, substance use, mental health, and other needs
• Court Participation: provide testimony and information during court proceedings
