Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Parole Agent 1 in the Scranton area to supervise individuals on probation or parole and guide their transition back into the community. The role functions as a hands-on trainee with a 12-month training period leading to Parole Agent 2 and a salary increase.

Responsibilities include field operations, community outreach, treatment planning, case guidance, and coordinating with agencies for supportive services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, legal studies, political science, behavioral science, or a related field; or
• Associate’s degree with two years of paraprofessional social services, human services, corrections, or law enforcement experience; or
• Four years of paraprofessional experience including two years in related fields; or
• Equivalent combination of experience and training; applicants may be within 3 months of graduating to meet educational requirements.

Responsibilities

• Field Operations: meet parolees where they live and work using a state vehicle.
• Community Outreach: coordinate with employers, counselors, and families to support progress.
• Treatment Planning: develop and update supervision plans based on individual needs.
• Case Guidance: help parolees address personal challenges affecting transition.
• Agency Referrals: refer to programs for employment, substance use, mental health, and other needs.
• Court Participation: provide testimony and information during court proceedings related to supervision and compliance.
