Job summary

The City of Georgetown, Texas, seeks a seasoned Parks and Recreation Administrator to lead assigned programs under the Parks and Recreation Director. You will assist with budget development, strategic planning, and supervision of staff and contractors to deliver high-quality services.

Responsibilities include policy development, program evaluation, project management for capital projects, and presenting at city meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Parks and Recreation Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
• Seven (7) years of full-time progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation administration.
• Three (3) years of the required experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

• Assist Parks and Recreation Director by providing direction and communicating the vision to staff.
• Supervise divisions and staff; oversee hiring, training, evaluating, counseling, and disciplining staff; supervise contractors.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures and regulations; ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws.
• Evaluate and improve existing programs; initiate new services to meet customer needs.
• Manage projects, schedules and special events with managers and personnel.
• Recommend park maintenance and recreation programming to the Director.
• Respond to customer complaints and questions about programs, facilities and policies.
• Provide project management for capital improvement projects.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for policy and program development.
