Job summary

Horry County Parks and Recreation seeks a motivated Grounds Maintenance Worker to perform manual labor and semi-skilled tasks across parks, athletic fields, trails and recreation centers. Under supervision, you will keep buildings and grounds clean, safe and well maintained.

Responsibilities include preparing athletic fields, applying fertilizers and pesticides, operating mowers and power tools, maintaining equipment, and providing friendly customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• South Carolina or North Carolina Driver’s license.
• Ability to pass the required pre-employment physical and background check.
• Ability to operate a variety of grounds equipment and hand/power tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine grounds keeping duties including mowing, trimming, planting, and weed control.
• Apply fertilizer, pesticide, and other chemicals following safety procedures.
• Operate mowers, blowers, spraying equipment, and power tools.
• Maintain and repair grounds facilities and equipment such as fences, signs, tables, and athletic fields.
• Provide friendly, timely, and responsive customer service to park visitors.
