Job summary

The Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a dedicated grounds maintenance worker to help keep parks, athletic fields, trails, and recreation centers clean, safe, and well maintained. You will operate a variety of equipment, apply fertilizers and pesticides, and perform routine custodial tasks across multiple facilities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions for grounds work.
• Knowledge of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides use.
• Experience with motorized equipment and hand tools.
• Ability to develop, interpret, apply policies and procedures.
• Ability to communicate with a wide range of backgrounds.
• Ability to make sound, educated decisions.
• Willingness to learn new skills and improve performance.
• Keeps informed of changes in department policies.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine custodial services in Recreation buildings and grounds maintenance.
• Trims and edges around walks and beds; plants annuals and shrubs.
• Maintains and repairs park fixtures and equipment.
• Prepares athletic fields for play and maintains irrigation.
• Operates mowers, trucks, weed eaters, and other power tools.
• Provides friendly, timely customer service.
• Performs safety procedures and reports hazards.
• May work weekends or during emergencies.
