Job summary

The City of Beaufort is seeking a Parks Supervisor to oversee daily operations and maintenance of city parks, supervise staff, manage resources, and coordinate with departments for park projects. The role emphasizes safety, quality park experiences, and community engagement.

Candidates should have a valid SC pesticide license, driver’s license, and relevant landscape maintenance experience, with strong communication and budgeting skills. A drug test and security clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Valid SC Pesticide Applicator License or to be acquired within six months.
• Valid DHEC Backflow Tester License or to be acquired within six months.
• At least four years of landscape maintenance/related field experience with crew management and project oversight.
• Valid SC Driver’s License.
• Proficiency with MS Office/Google Suite and experience with MUNIS.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage budgets, staffing, and resources efficiently.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills; problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage park staff including maintenance crews, provide training, and conduct performance evaluations.
• Oversee upkeep of park grounds, facilities, and amenities including landscaping and playground maintenance.
• Maintain inventory of park supplies, plants, trees, and equipment.
• Coordinate and oversee park improvement projects, manage contractors, ensure permits and regulations.
• Supervise clearing and maintenance of rights-of-way; manage debris removal and landscaping.
• Plan and implement park events and activities to promote community involvement.
• Participate in emergency management duties as needed, including flood mitigation and securing facilities.
• Ensure park safety, inspections, and address safety concerns or incidents.
• Collaborate with city departments to coordinate projects and support the PTAC Board.
• Address public inquiries and investigate complaints to ensure timely resolution.
• Maintain records of park operations, incidents, maintenance logs, and budgets.
