Job summary

The City of Burnet, Texas is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker to help with construction, maintenance, and repair of parks and facilities. The role requires operating heavy equipment, landscape upkeep, and irrigation work, along with safe handling of chemicals and routine facility tasks.

Responsibilities include mowing, tree work, field preparation, restroom upkeep, and assisting in various maintenance duties. A valid Texas driver’s license and ability to lift heavy items are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in grounds maintenance and landscaping preferred, but not required.
• Must be 18 years old.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug and background screening.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver's license and insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operates mowers, tractors, trencher, vehicles and equipment.
• Maintains athletic fields and related facilities.
• Cleans restrooms and picks up litter around parks and medians.
• Maintains irrigation systems and related facilities.
• Prunes trees and shrubs; plants trees, flowers, and shrubs; rake leaves and clean walks and fields.
• Applies herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides safely.
• Maintains records of fertilizers and chemicals used.
• Perform manual labor including lifting heavy weights, stooping, bending and twisting.
• Assist with facility-related tasks including furniture moving or minor repairs.
