Job summary

The role requires extensive experience in park operations, staff supervision, and knowledge of irrigation systems, with a focus on water conservation and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade with specialized training in environmental horticulture or parks maintenance.
• Five years of park operations experience, including three years in a supervisory role.
• Valid California Driver’s License.
• Pesticide Applicators Certificate (CA).
• NRPA Playground Inspector Certificate within 12 months of appointment.
• Landscape Irrigation Auditor Certificate.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and review parks maintenance staff and operations.
• Develop goals, policies, and procedures for park services.
• Monitor field operations and recommend process improvements.
• Coordinate with other divisions and external agencies.
• Prepare budgets, cost estimates, and reports; manage resources.
• Ensure safety, training, and record-keeping standards are met.
• Oversee irrigation systems installation, maintenance, and calibration.
• Respond to public inquiries and coordinate with contractors.
