Job summary

City of Orange is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker II to join the Parks Division of the Community Services Department. You will perform a full range of semi-skilled maintenance duties across parks, facilities, irrigation systems, trails, and equipment, with focus on safety and reliable service to the public.

The ideal candidate has landscape and irrigation knowledge, a strong teamwork ethic, and the ability to work under supervision while progressing to independent responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
• Three years of work experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of parks and related facilities (or two years equivalent to Parks Maintenance Worker I).
• Two or more years of irrigation maintenance experience is highly desirable; municipal experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Performs construction, maintenance, and repair activities of City parks and related facilities to ensure safe access for the public.
• Performs turf maintenance duties including watering, mowing, weeding, trimming, and fertilizing.
• Maintains irrigation systems including heads, controllers, and projects; operates related equipment.
• Inspects and maintains playgrounds, fences, and park structures; paints and cleans facilities.
• Assists in setup and removal of equipment for special events and directs safety at work sites.
