Job summary

City of Davis is seeking a Public Works Maintenance Supervisor to plan, supervise, and evaluate a team responsible for streets and stormwater maintenance, repair, and related operations. The role requires strong leadership, safety oversight, and the ability to coordinate with engineering and management staff.

The ideal candidate has several years of maintenance experience and a proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and safety programs while ensuring City standards are met.

Qualifications

• Plans, schedules, assigns, reviews, and supervises the work of staff performing public works infrastructure maintenance duties including streets and stormwater maintenance and operations.
• Responds to citizen complaints and requests for assistance; oversees employee safety training programs; ensures all new infrastructure construction meets City standards.
• Provides complex staff assistance to management staff in areas of expertise; and performs related work as required.

Responsibilities

• Plans organizes, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of maintenance staff; trains staff in work procedures; evaluates employee performance, counsels employees, and effectively recommends initial disciplinary action.
• Monitors activities of the public works maintenance work unit; identifies opportunities for improving service delivery and procedures; provides recommendations concerning process changes; reviews with appropriate management staff; implements improvements.
