Job summary

City of Kearney is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker to perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in maintenance, construction, and care of parks and park facilities. You will operate trucks and light equipment, supervise seasonal staff, and manage landscaping, turf, and irrigation tasks to ensure safe, well-maintained outdoor spaces.

The role involves heavy outdoor work, outdoor winter operations, and coordination with recreational staff for events.

Qualifications

• Require a high school diploma/GED and experience in ground maintenance, nursery or landscape work.
• Must possess a valid Nebraska driver’s license and the ability to obtain an EPA pesticide applicator’s license within 12 months of hire.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
