Job summary

The Municipality of Anchorage is seeking a Park Caretaker I to maintain park lands and facilities in a safe, usable condition for the general public. The role is based in the Parks and Recreation department with four 10-hour shifts and responsibilities spanning winter and summer seasonal duties.

Winter duties include litter collection and snow/ice removal, while summer duties cover turf and irrigation maintenance, trail work, and facility repairs across multiple park sites.

Qualifications

• Three (3) months experience in lawn, landscape, trails, construction, grounds, or facility maintenance.
• Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver's license at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

• The primary duty is to maintain Municipality of Anchorage park land and facilities in a safe, usable condition for the general public.
• Winter Season Duties: litter collection; snow & ice removal from sidewalks; outdoor recreational ice maintenance; track setting; trail grooming and maintenance; special event preparation and support; and general grounds cleaning and repair.
• Summer Season Duties: turf and irrigation maintenance; removal & cleanup of unauthorized or illegal campsites; litter collection; athletic and multiuse field maintenance; trail maintenance; park fence and barrier repairs; park shelters, amenities and equipment cleaning and repair; special event preparation and support; and general grounds and facility care.
