Job summary

City of Santa Fe Springs seeks a Grounds Maintenance worker to perform landscaping and maintenance across parks and recreation facilities. You will manage grounds, athletic fields, plantings, trails, and facilities, using mowers, tools, and safety procedures to keep properties clean and safe.

Qualifications

Requires knowledge of safety procedures for grounds work.
Basic understanding of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides.
Ability to communicate with diverse groups of people.
Experience operating common grounds maintenance equipment.
Must follow policies and procedures and adapt to changing priorities.
Must pass pre-employment physical and background check.

Responsibilities

Performs routine grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, planting, and cleaning.
Prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines and may cover different locations.
Applies fertilizers and pesticides using mechanical equipment and keeps records.
Maintains grounds and equipment; repairs minor issues or coords repairs.
Prepares athletic fields for play, including chalking and setting bases.
Operates equipment safely and reports unsafe conditions to supervisor.
Assists with events and customer service for park visitors.
Cleans facilities and restrooms and restocks supplies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
