Job summary

The City of Santa Fe Springs seeks a seasoned Parks and Natural Resources supervisor to direct street trees and landscaped maintenance. You will plan, supervise crews and contractors, and administer grants while guiding budgets, safety, and compliance.

Responsibilities include coordinating with other departments, writing bid specs, applying herbicides and fertilizers, responding to emergencies, training staff, and representing the department at public meetings.

Qualifications

• Five years experience in parks, street trees or landscaped maintenance including 2 years as a manager or supervisor.
• Desirable: college coursework in business administration, management, arboriculture or related field; and a state license (A–G) and arborist certification.

Responsibilities

• Plans and directs work by crews and contractors for street tree and landscaped maintenance.
• Writes and administers grants; develops schedules for pruning and planting.
• Inspects parks, street trees and landscaped areas; participates in budget and policy development.
• Coordinates with management; develops bid specs for contract services; manages pesticide/fertilizer applications.
• Responds to emergencies; trains and evaluates employees; represents the department at meetings.
