Job Overview
Under general supervision of the Parks Operations Supervisor, the Groundsworker performs manual labor to establish and maintain the maintenance and upkeep of public parks, grounds, buildings, athletic fields, and related facilities within an assigned area of the Parks and Recreation Department. Responsibilities include landscaping, grounds maintenance, mowing, and maintenance of buildings and structures within City parks and other City areas.
Work is performed outside in all weather conditions and requires physical strength, agility, and dexterity. Duties include sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and repetitive hand movements. Ability to lift, carry, and push objects weighing over 100 pounds is required. Exposure to dust, fumes, solvents, variable lighting, noise, and hazardous conditions is possible. Knowledge of all appropriate precautions, procedures, and techniques is an absolute requirement.
Due to the safety and/or security sensitive nature of this position, individuals shall be subject to pre-employment or pre-placement drug and/or controlled substance testing as outlined in City policy.
