Job summary

County of Sonoma is seeking a Parks and Grounds Maintenance Worker II to help maintain County Regional Parks, grounds, trails, and facilities. The role includes pruning, mowing, planting, and general upkeep to preserve safe, welcoming park environments.

Ideal candidates will operate a range of equipment, handle irrigation systems, and perform outdoor building maintenance. A valid California driver’s license is required, with a commitment to outdoor work in all weather and some weekends.

Qualifications

  • Experience using landscaping and mechanical tools such as mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, blowers, and other tools.
  • Experience in construction and maintenance of roads, walls, fences, and park amenities.
  • Ability to operate trucks, tractors, mowers, and utility vehicles safely.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Sonoma County Regional Parks grounds, trails, buildings, and marinas.
  • Perform pruning, mowing, planting, weeding, and other landscaping tasks.
  • Lead or assist on special projects and guide other staff as needed.
