Job summary

The City of Waukesha is hiring for a Grounds Maintenance Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor to care for parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, and other City facilities. The role involves supervising seasonal staff, coordinating maintenance tasks, and ensuring safety and quality standards across grounds operations.

Required training in turf/grounds maintenance, plus the ability to operate heavy equipment. A CDL and Wisconsin pesticide applicator license must be obtained within one year of hire;

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school (or HSED equivalent) plus training in turf management/grounds maintenance
• BS degree in a related field counts for 2 years of experience
• Associates degree counts for 1 year of experience
• Experience operating heavy equipment or equivalent combination of training and experience

Responsibilities

• Perform landscaping and grounds maintenance in City parks and public areas
• Identify plant, insect, turf problems and treat with pesticides/herbicides/fertilizers
• Operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment and tools
• Assist with construction/maintenance of park buildings and amenities
• Assist with events and park program setup/teardown
• Support Forestry crews with tree work and safety interventions
• Inspect parks for cleanliness, safety, damage and graffiti
• Supervise and train seasonal employees
• Prepare athletic fields and courts for games and maintain turf health
• Maintain records of repairs, maintenance, and inventory
