Job summary

The City of Waukesha is seeking a Grounds Maintenance worker to care for parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, and related facilities. Responsibilities include turf maintenance, equipment operation, painting and janitorial work, and assisting with special events.

Requires high school diploma and related turf training; CDL and pesticide license within one year are required. Work is performed outdoors, with possible weekend/overtime; successful candidates will pass pre-employment exams and drug

Qualifications

Graduation from high school (or HSED equivalent) plus at least 2 years of technical, professional or specialized training in turf management, grounds maintenance, horticulture or green house operations.
BS degree in a relate field counts for 2 years’ experience. Associates degree will count for 1 year of experience.
Experience should include the operation of heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

Performs all aspects of landscaping and grounds maintenance in City parks, recreation and other public areas.
Identify plant, insect and turf problems and the appropriate treatment options using pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers.
Operate the tools, equipment and vehicles used in grounds maintenance and in the care of turf, plants, shrubs and other ground covers.
