Job summary

The City of Middleton seeks a Parks Crew Member to help maintain parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, and public spaces. You’ll operate trucks, mowers, and tools, care for trees and turf, and participate in seasonal and basic facility maintenance, working with the Parks Foreman and team.

This outdoor role requires a high school diploma, one year in parks or related work, and a valid driver’s license; CDL and certifications must be obtained within a year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in parks or facility maintenance, construction, or a closely related field.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within one year of employment.
• Ability to obtain the following certifications within one year of hire: DATCP Pesticide Applicator Certification; NWCG S-130/S-190 Wildland Firefighter Training; Pool and Spa Operator Certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, aquatic facilities, ice rinks, conservancies, and other recreational areas.
• Operate vehicles and equipment including dump trucks, tractors, mowers, turf equipment, sprayers, and tools.
• Care for trees, shrubs, turf, and assist with forestry and habitat work.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on mowers and equipment.
• Complete general maintenance projects involving carpentry, concrete, plumbing, painting, and basic electrical work.
• Perform snow and ice removal from sidewalks, lots, and public areas.
• Assist with seasonal operations and facility maintenance.
• Provide direction to seasonal staff as assigned.
