Job summary

The City of SunPrairie is seeking a Parks/Forestry support role in Sun Prairie, WI. This position assists the Parks and Forestry Crew in skilled maintenance and landscaping across city parks and facilities.

Responsibilities include mowing, general and skilled maintenance, operating and maintaining tools, equipment and vehicles; landscape tasks like weeding, planting, mulching, pruning, and seasonal care; snow removal on bridges and paths and ice rink upkeep.

Qualifications

Experience with landscaping/grounds maintenance methods and equipment.
Experience operating and safely using tools, equipment and vehicles.
Experience with maintenance and repair of tools, equipment and vehicles.
Education in trades such as carpentry, construction, small engine repair, plumbing, electrician or heavy machinery operation.
Ability to understand verbal and written instructions (HS diploma or GED).
Ability to work holidays and weekends; flexible shifts.
Must be 18+ and hold a valid WI driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include mowing city parks and properties.
Perform general and skilled maintenance at park facilities.
Operate, repair, and maintain tools, equipment and vehicles.
Assist landscape maintenance: weeding, planting, mulching, pruning, mowing and watering.
Maintain athletic fields and assist with events.
Assist with snow removal on bridges and multi-use paths; ice rink maintenance.
Clean restrooms and restock supplies; light maintenance tasks.
Assist with tree trimming/removal and invasive species management.
Use inventory/work-order systems; operate tools like Toolcats and small equipment.
