Job summary

Dougherty County Public Works is seeking a Parks & Operations Manager to oversee operations of unincorporated parks and gardens. The role reports to management and coordinates with staff, vendors, and the public to ensure safe, efficient park services.

The position requires an associates/technical degree with horticulture or related fields, plus 1–2 years of experience in parks. A valid Georgia commercial driver’s license and Cat.24 applicator certification within six months are required.

Qualifications

• Associates or vocational technical degree equivalent to two years of college with emphasis in horticulture or related area.
• One to two years of experience in parks or landscape management.
• Valid state commercial driver's license with acceptable driving history; Georgia Applicator Cat.24 certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff (volunteers, interns, crews) and coordinates park projects.
• Organizes daily/weekend operations and activities; ensures safety and compliance with codes and procedures.
• Provides budgetary recommendations for park and garden projects; communicates with management and vendors.
• May operate light equipment; reviews documents and coordinates with multiple stakeholders.
