Job summary

Bulloch County Recreation and Parks is seeking a responsible supervisor to oversee operations and staff involved in maintaining parks, recreational spaces, and related areas, ensuring high-quality service and continuous improvement.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 3 years of experience in parks/grounds maintenance, a valid Georgia driver’s license, and the Certified Playground Safety Inspector credential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of experience in parks and grounds maintenance, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license.
• Certified Playground Safety Inspector certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate regular and temporary staff: plan, assign, review work, evaluate training needs, schedule vacations, approve leave, conduct performance appraisals, and maintain employee morale.
• Organize work activities: prioritize tasks to meet objectives, ensure subordinates have necessary resources, monitor status of work, provide technical expertise, and report progress to management.
• Oversee athletic field maintenance and preparation: set field dimensions, grade fields with laser equipment, level surfaces, line and set out fields, maintain grass, schedule and apply insecticides and herbicides, calibrate equipment, repair fencing and nets, coordinate usage with coaches and other departments, and perform aerating, verticutting, topdressing, thatching, and seeding as needed.
• Manage field irrigation: program maintenance and repair of controllers, update control system data, monitor soil moisture, adjust run schedules, troubleshoot issues, and oversee major repairs and pump station maintenance.
• Oversee maintenance for assigned parks: mow, trim, edge, blow off perimeters, remove trash, trim hedges, pressure wash bleachers and concrete, set up/take down tents, paint doors and signs, replace bleachers, clean offices and restrooms, strip parking lots, and inspect safety.
• Oversee maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of assigned playgrounds: perform safety checks, schedule inspections, repair, order parts, replace surfacing, disinfect structures, remove trash, and maintain mulch.
• Maintain upkeep of county buildings: clean buildings, mop and wax floors, dust furniture, disinfect restrooms, remove trash, cut and edge grass, and trim hedges.
• Perform preventative maintenance on exports equipment: check fluid levels, tire pressure, grease moving parts, perform oil changes, maintain mowers, and repair airless paint sprayers.
