Job summary

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County seeks an Operations Manager-North to oversee day-to-day operations, maintenance, safety, and facilities across assigned preserves. This exempt, full-time role reports to the Director of Operations and directs staffing, scheduling, and performance management.

The ideal candidate has an associate’s degree in facility management or related field with 6–8 years of experience, including supervisory work.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in facility management, parks and recreation, or related field.
• 6–8 years of relevant experience, including supervisory experience of at least 3 years.
• Valid Illinois driver's license; ability to work outdoors and in varying weather.
• Certifications within one year: CPR/First Aid/AED, CDL Class A, Pesticide Applicator, prescribed burn.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations, maintenance, safety, and facilities of assigned properties.
• Lead staff through hiring, training, mentoring, scheduling, and performance management.
• Coordinate with Director of Operations and manage incidents and emergency callouts.
