Job summary

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County seeks a dependable Ranger Assistant (South) to support operations, maintenance, and visitor services across district preserves. You will help protect and maintain trails, facilities, grounds, and natural resources under the Operations Manager's guidance.

Ideal candidates have strong communication, teamwork, and safety skills, plus knowledge of grounds and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required. One year of landscaping/natural resources/recreation experience is a plus.
• Ability to operate maintenance and construction equipment or equivalent training.
• Must be able to travel between preserves and facilities and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operations, maintenance, and visitor services.
• Assist with campground operations and special events; lead seasonal staff.
• Respond to emergencies and maintain safety across district properties.
