Job summary

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County is seeking an Operations Manager-North to oversee daily operations, maintenance, safety, and facilities across assigned preserves. This exempt, full-time role reports to the Director of Operations and requires strong leadership and organizational skills.

The ideal candidate will have an associate’s degree in facility management or related field, 6–8 years of experience with at least 3 years in supervision, and the ability to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED,

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in facility management, parks and recreation, or a related field.
6–8 years of relevant experience, including supervisory experience of at least 3 years.
Valid Illinois driver’s license; ability to work outdoors and in varying weather; occasional irregular hours; ability to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED, CDL Class A, Pesticide Applicator, and prescribed burn certifications within one year.
Minimum age 21 years

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day operations, maintenance, safety, and facilities of assigned properties.
Lead staff through hiring, training, mentoring, scheduling, performance management, and daily work assignments.
Travel between preserves and facilities; oversee operations involving district vehicles and equipment; ensure safety and compliance.
