Job summary

The City of Lincoln is seeking a Maintenance Worker I for the Parks and Facilities Division of the Public Works Department. This entry-level role involves learning and performing a wide range of maintenance, construction, and equipment operation tasks across parks, streets, water, and buildings.

Applicants should have one year of related experience and a high school diploma or equivalent; a Class B California driver’s license may be required for some positions.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in construction, maintenance or related work and a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A valid class B California driver’s license may be required for some positions.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance, repair, construction, equipment operation and installation work in streets, water, sewers, parks and buildings.
• Maintains lawns, shrubs and trees; maintains irrigation systems; cleans and maintains parks and city buildings; assists with minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting and remodeling tasks.
• Fills out reports and work orders; responds to after-hours call-outs if assigned.
• Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures; may provide training to lower level staff; handles inquiries from the public and resolves complaints.
• Establishes positive working relationships with community representatives and city staff.
