Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in the Department of Neurology seeks a Research Scientist to lead projects on the molecular and cellular mechanisms regulating alpha-synuclein in Parkinson’s disease, using cellular and animal models.

You will perform primary neuronal cell culture and live imaging, supervise students, and contribute to manuscripts and grants, while collaborating across the lab to advance understanding of neurodegeneration.

Qualifications

Doctorate degree in a related field with one year of related experience, or Master’s with three years, or Bachelor’s with five years of related experience.
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Responsibilities

Designing and conducting experiments examining molecular and cellular mechanisms regulating alpha-synuclein aggregation and clearance in cellular and animal models of Parkinson’s disease.
Performing primary neuronal cell culture and live imaging.
Supervising and mentoring undergraduate/graduate lab students.
Writing manuscripts and grants, presenting investigational findings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
