Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Department of Neurology seeks a Senior Researcher to lead a Michael J. Fox Foundation project on Parkinson’s disease-related inflammation in rodent models. Responsibilities include project management, experimental design, and data interpretation.

You will mentor junior researchers, manage budgets, and perform immunohistochemistry, qRT-PCR, Western blot, and ELISA. Onsite work arrangement applies, with the potential for high-impact publications.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in a related field is required OR Master's degree with two years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree with four years of related experience; education cannot be substituted by experience.
• Experience with handling rats and collecting tissue from peripheral organs and brain, and isolating RNA/protein is preferred.
• Experience with the listed assays (qRT-PCR, Western blot, ELISA) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage a MJFF-funded project to identify readouts of Parkinson’s disease-related inflammation in rodent models.
• Oversee complex research projects, mentor junior researchers, and manage budgets.
• Design experiments, ensure data integrity, and contribute to publications.
• Prepare protocols and perform data collection and reporting.
