Position Summary

The Parking Attendant is an on-call, per-event employee who assists in directing customers in and around the Iowa Events Center parking lots during events. This position is responsible for handling a high volume of cash and credit transactions responsibly. The employee must have excellent attendance to ensure the success of the Parking Department during events held at the Iowa Events Center.

This role pays an hourly wage of $15.00.

Responsibilities

1. Greet and direct customers entering parking lots.
2. Communicate parking information to the public.
3. Sell parking tickets.
4. Accept cash or credit payments and count back correct change as needed.
5. Use credit machines with personal identification numbers and building codes.
6. Work in various parking locations and positions.
7. Document all cars passing through the booth as assigned.
8. Balance the cash drawer at the end of each shift.
9. Park cars quickly and efficiently.
10. Monitor the lot during events and contact a supervisor if issues arise.
11. Provide a positive and friendly experience to all customers.
12. Set up A-frame signs, parking cones, and reserved parking signs.
13. Identify and problem-solve parking issues to prevent them when possible.
14. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
3. Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
4. Flexibility to work long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
5. Clear communication skills in English and familiarity with using a company radio.
6. Comfort working with the public.
7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
