The City of New York is seeking an enthusiastic Parking Attorney Intern for the Parking Law Unit to support enforcement-related legal matters. You will perform research, draft memoranda and responses, and assist with state and local legislation, policies, and agency rules.

You will provide counsel to the operational staff, liaise with the Law Department, and participate in projects and hearings as needed. Remote work up to 2 days per week is possible.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a US law school or admission to the NYS Bar.
• Interest in parking law and local government legal matters.
• Ability to conduct legal research and draft memoranda.

Responsabilités

• Perform parking law, enforcement and administration related legal research and draft memoranda, legal responses, policy statements and other documents.
• Perform legal work involving issues of fact and questions of law, including parking law, NYC Administrative Code, NYS CPLR, and NYS VTL.
• Assist in reviewing State and local legislation, policies, and agency rules, forms and communications.
• Provide legal counsel to the agency's operational staff and liaise with Law Department on matters handled by the unit.
• Participate in division and agency projects and assist with reports.
• Research and draft responses to claims or actions filed against the agency as needed.
• Under direction, liaison with the Law Department on agency litigation matters.
• Prepare petitions/cases for administrative matters and hearings as needed.
• Engage in projects and matters across other areas as directed by General Counselor Division.
