Job summary

NYC Department of Finance is seeking a Parking Summons Case Advocate to assist the public with parking and camera summons disputes. You will conduct interviews, research issues, and provide effective case advocacy.

The role involves liaising with elected officials and DOF offices to resolve complex cases, with occasional travel to borough centers and possible remote work up to two days per week. The minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and substantial

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or related duties.
• High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or related duties.
• Education or experience that is equivalent to the above with at least one year in community work.

Responsibilities

• Interview respondents, collect information for hearings, and explain dispute procedures.
• Explain actions taken to respondents and advise on appeal rights.
• Counsel respondents on penalties and payment methods after hearings.
• Liaise with DOF offices and elected official offices to resolve issues.
• Research and identify systemic issues; make recommendations for change.
• Maintain a case management system and compile data for reports.
• Travel to DOF centers and meet respondents in person, by phone, or via web conference.
