Job summary

The City of Colorado Springs Public Works team is seeking a Parking Enforcement Officer I to enforce city parking ordinances with keen attention to detail while supporting community relations. Work schedule Friday through Tuesday, 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM. The position emphasizes safety, reliability, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
• One year of full-time, professional experience in a related field.
• Valid driving license (non-probationary).

Responsibilities

• Enforce the City’s parking ordinances by issuing citations to offenders.
• Monitor driveways, fire hydrant areas, crosswalks, school zones, and other areas to ensure parking ordinance compliance.
• Maintain effective working relationships with merchants and residents of assigned patrol areas, answering questions and explaining city policies.
• Testify in court as required.
• Maintain assigned vehicle and specialized equipment.
• Respond to abandoned vehicle complaints and initiate impoundment of vehicles in the City’s lots and on-street locations.
• Assist with Special Events as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

About the Job

A successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Using software programs to support operations

Ability to:

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
• One year of full-time, professional experience in a related field
• Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary driver’s license not subject to restrictions
