Job summary

The City of Colorado Springs is seeking a Parking Enforcement Officer I to support the Public Works team. This role enforces parking ordinances with attention to detail and serves the community by upholding city policies.

The position offers evenings and weekend shifts (Friday–Tuesday, 12:00 PM–8:30 PM) with starting pay within the posted range based on experience and education. Participation in the 2026 Salary Schedule is noted.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED).
• One year of full-time, professional experience in a related field.
• Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary driver's license not subject to restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Enforce the City's parking ordinances by issuing citations to offenders.
• Monitor driveways, fire hydrant areas, crosswalks, school zones, and other areas to ensure parking ordinance compliance.
• Maintain effective working relationships with merchants and residents of assigned patrol areas, answering questions, interpreting and explaining city policies.
• Testify in court as required.
• Maintain assigned vehicle and specialized equipment.
• Respond to abandoned vehicle complaints and initiate impoundment of vehicles in the City's lots and on-street locations.
• Assist with Special Events as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

About the Job
