Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a Building Environmental Services Technician to support the daily cleaning and upkeep of UNC’s parking decks, ensuring safe and clean facilities for students, staff, and visitors.

Duties include custodial tasks (trash, sweeping, elevators, lobbies), operating equipment (blowers, ride-on sweepers), and periodic deep cleaning (power washing stairwells, wiping handrails).

Qualifications

• Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
• Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain UNC parking decks to keep facilities safe and clean for students, staff and visitors.
• Perform custodial tasks: pick up trash, sweep drive aisles and stairwells, clean elevators and lobbies, empty trash cans, and maintain common areas.
• Operate equipment such as blowers and ride-on sweepers; perform periodic deep cleaning like power washing stairwells and wiping handrails and doors.
• Work outdoors in parking facilities and respond during adverse weather events, including snow and ice removal.
