Job summary

City of Sweetwater is seeking a Parking Enforcement Officer to promote public safety and regulate parking resources within the city. You will patrol areas, identify violations, issue citations, and assist motorists with parking options and policy information.

The role requires bilingual English/Spanish communication, a valid Florida driver's license, and strong attention to detail. Prior parking or code enforcement experience is preferred, with outdoor duties in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Fundamentals in Code Enforcement Certification preferred.
• 1 year of experience in parking enforcement or related field preferred.
• Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Patrol designated areas to monitor compliance with parking regulations, including time limits, metered parking, and permit requirements.
• Identify and document parking violations such as expired meters, overstaying time limits, parking in prohibited areas, and unauthorized use of accessible parking spaces.
• Issue parking citations, warnings, or notices of violation to vehicles in violation of parking regulations, using handheld devices or manual ticketing methods.
• Provide assistance and information to motorists regarding parking rules, payment options, and alternative locations.
• Respond to complaints from residents, businesses, and government agencies regarding parking-related issues and take appropriate enforcement actions.
• Maintain accurate records of parking citations issued, including vehicle descriptions, license plates, and violation details.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, towing companies, and other agencies to facilitate removal of illegally parked vehicles or vehicles blocking traffic.
• Testify in court and provide evidence as necessary to support parking enforcement actions and citation appeals.
• Perform any other duties as assigned and participate in City events and emergency management duties as needed.
• Active participation in City of Sweetwater community events and any disaster response duties as required.
