Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid IL Class C Driver’s License must be maintained with a safe driving record.
• Current IL Pesticide Operator’s License or must obtain within six months.
• Experience in seasonal turf care (aeration, fertilizing, rest) is preferred.
• Irrigation systems knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and coordinate repairs.
• Skilled with hand and power tools; machinery operation experience.
• Good reading of manuals and diagrams; ability to work with technical instructions.
• Must communicate in English, both spoken and written.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and work outdoors in varied weather.

Responsibilities

• Perform turf maintenance including mowing, trimming, edging, and seasonal care.
• Apply pesticides and manage irrigation systems as required.
• Maintain athletic fields, prep for events, and assist with field setup.
• Coordinate with contractors for irrigation repairs and inspections.
• Operate and supervise others as assigned, ensuring safe, efficient park operations.
• Perform preventative maintenance, snow removal, and general park upkeep.
• Communicate with supervisors and public to provide quality service.
