Job summary

The Park District is seeking a Maintenance Technician to learn and perform park maintenance tasks, including turf, irrigation, shrub and tree care, and general facility upkeep.

Under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor or Lead Maintenance Specialist, you may work weekends, evenings, holidays, snow watch, and shifts may vary to meet district needs. Reliable hands-on skills and dedication to safe, clean parks are essential.

Responsibilities

• Performs cultural maintenance: mowing, aeration, fertilization, irrigation.
• Assists in tree/shrub care: plantings, removals, weed/pest control, pruning.
• Trash and recyclables removal operations; maintains park grounds and facilities.
• Maintains shelters: roof repair, table repair, trash receptacles, stocking, painting, restroom cleaning.
• Assists with irrigation system inspections and repairs to mainlines, valves, pumps.
• Assists with events: deliveries, setup/teardown of tents, tables, benches.
• Documents and inspects play equipment; notifies for repairs.
• Maintains tools and equipment; reports maintenance needs.
