Job summary

Park District of La Grange is seeking a Park Maintenance II to perform skilled maintenance and repairs across parks and facilities. You will operate a range of vehicles and grounds equipment, supervise seasonal staff, and ensure safety standards for public spaces.

The role requires 3–5 years of park maintenance experience, knowledge of irrigation and fields, and a valid Illinois driver's license. Typical hours are 40 per week with occasional evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or technical training preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in park maintenance, groundskeeping, facility repair, or related field.
• Experience operating landscape and other equipment.
• Working knowledge of irrigation, athletic fields, landscaping, and building maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled maintenance, repair, and improvement of parks, facilities, athletic fields, playgrounds, and district assets.
• Operate, inspect, and maintain a variety of vehicles, equipment, tools, and machinery.
• Perform grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, landscaping, irrigation, fertilization, pesticide application, and related tasks.
• Inspect parks, facilities, equipment, and amenities for maintenance needs and hazards.
• Complete preventative maintenance and assist in troubleshooting and repairing district equipment.
• Assist with installation and maintenance of park amenities, signage, fencing, benches, playgrounds, and sports facilities.
• Assist with snow and ice removal and weather-related emergencies.
• Provide guidance to park maintenance I staff and seasonal workers as requested.
• Attend trainings and maintain required licenses; perform other duties as assigned.
