• There is no substitution of education for experience for Federal Wage System (FWS) positions.

Responsibilities

• Reports directly to Chief of Maintenance GS-1640-12 and supervises the roads and trails program in two districts (East and West).
• Oversees the alternative transportation program (park shuttle) and serves as the park's fleet manager.
• Oversees day-to-day work of permanent, seasonal, and volunteer employees of the Roads, Trails, and Transportation branch.
• Prepares work plans, budgets, special projects, and staffing requirements annually for roads, trails, and transportation.
• Utilizes computerized facility management programs to inventory, assess, and program maintenance work for park roads and trails, and to develop project proposals.
• Acts as ATR for cooperative agreements and as COR.
• Promotes the park safety program and ensures safe working conditions.
• Role includes indoor sedentary work and outdoor field work in varying temperatures and conditions.
