Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation seeks a dynamic Park Ranger Manager to lead the creation of a new Park Ranger Unit, guiding safety, operations, and community engagement across city parks and facilities.
The role oversees staff recruitment, vehicle and equipment deployment, and the development of training programs, while coordinating with police, fire, EMS, and sheriff’s departments for planning and emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of the Park Ranger Unit from the ground up.
- Recruit and hire ranger staff and coordinate equipment deployment.
- Develop SOPs and training programs for park safety and operations.
- Serve as on-site commander during critical field emergencies and incidents.
- Represent the department at events, meetings, and public forums.
