Job summary

Florence County is seeking an Independence Farm Park Ranger to enforce park rules and assist visitors with information about recreational resources and natural history. The role includes custodial duties, event preparation, fee handling, and ensuring safety and cleanliness across park facilities.

The position requires a high school diploma, one year of maintenance experience, a valid SC driver’s license, and First Aid/CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one year general maintenance experience.
• Understanding of protecting and maintaining park natural areas is desired.
• Valid SC driver's license and First Aid/CPR certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Patrols the park to enforce rules and safeguard facilities.
• Performs custodial and housekeeping activities of park facilities to standards.
• Conducts regular walk-throughs with Park Ranger Supervisor to identify maintenance needs.
• Prepares rental facilities for events, checks in customers and guests, remains on site to assist visitors.
• Collects fees and completes related documentation; reconciles funds.
• Operates a variety of small and large engine equipment including tools, tractor, backhoe.
• Assesses equipment, supplies, and materials needs and reports to Supervisor.
• Exercises judgment in answering questions and releasing information; assesses consequences of decisions.
