Job summary

Florence County is seeking a Park Ranger to enforce regulations, protect facilities, and provide visitors with information about the park's recreational resources and natural history.

The role includes patrols, custodial duties, event preparation, fee collection, and operating equipment, with supervision from the Park Ranger Supervisor to maintain safe, welcoming parks for all visitors.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one year general maintenance experience.
• Understanding of protecting and maintaining park natural areas is desired.
• Basic knowledge of canoeing/kayaking is desired.
• Must possess a valid SC driver’s license.
• Must possess or complete First Aid and CPR certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Patrols the park to enforce rules and safeguard facilities.
• Performs custodial and housekeeping duties of park facilities to ensure cleanliness and safety.
• Conducts regular walk-throughs with Park Ranger Supervisor to identify maintenance needs.
• Prepares rental facilities for events; checks in customers and overnight guests; secures buildings after events.
• Collects fees, makes change, completes related documentation, and reconciles funds.
• Operates a variety of small and large engine equipment and tools.
• Evaluates equipment and supplies needs and reports findings to supervisor.
• Uses judgment in handling inquiries and information.
