Job summary

Orange County Government is seeking a Parks and Recreation leader to plan, organize, and facilitate recreational programs for all ages. You may supervise part-time staff, interns, and volunteers, ensuring safe, engaging experiences across multiple park facilities.

The role requires evening and weekend work, weather readiness, and on-site presence with no remote work option. A valid Florida Driver's license and CPR/First Aid certification are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution and two years of experience in the Parks and Recreation field. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
  • Must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid Certification within twelve months from date of hire.
  • May be required to possess and maintain an Aquatic License.
  • May be required to possess and maintain a Certified Pool and Spa Operator Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, trains and evaluates Park Services Specialist I, interns, casual workforce, and volunteers.
  • Keeps facilities clean and free of debris, including restrooms and trash removal.
  • Assists park patrons across all ages, including youth and elderly.
  • Open, close and secure park sites and facilities.
  • Writes and maintains monthly reports.
  • Utilizes equipment for landscaping and grounds maintenance across parks.
  • May conduct classes or assist with program participants.
  • May schedule field trips and supervise transportation.
  • Plan, implement and supervise daily recreational programs.
  • Promote activities through media channels.
  • Collect fees and maintain records of money received.
  • Maintain open communication with staff, parents and youth.
  • Maintain documentation of disciplinary actions.

Skills

Valid Florida Driver's License
CPR and First Aid Certification
Leadership experience

Education

Associate's degree plus 2 years Parks & Recreation experience
Equivalent education/experience substitution
