Job summary

Orange County Government seeks a dedicated parks and recreation staff member to plan and supervise recreational activities, maintain facilities, and guide part-time employees and volunteers. The role requires flexibility for evenings and weekends and work in all weather conditions, with no remote work option.

Duties include custodial tasks, grounds maintenance, equipment operation, and assisting with events and registrations.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Parks and Recreation or related field required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
• CPR and First Aid Certification to be obtained within 12 months of hire.
• Possession of aquatic license may be required.
• Possession of Certified Pool and Spa Operator Certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Keep facilities clean and safe, including restrooms and general custodial duties.
• Perform landscaping and grounds maintenance across multiple parks.
• Operate carts, mowers, trucks, trailers, and tractors; conduct basic maintenance.
• Open/close park sites and supervise interns, staff, and volunteers.
• Assist with building maintenance and park facility upkeep.
• Register classes and maintain records; assist with event planning.
• Prepare monthly reports and manage supplies inventory.
