Job summary

CITY OF PORT ORANGE is seeking personnel to organize and participate in a variety of recreation activities across age groups and interests. The role supports city-sponsored events, ensures rules are followed during rentals, and may supervise volunteers.

It requires reading safety and operation guides, strong communication, and the ability to work evenings or weekends. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, 6–9 months related experience, and a valid Florida driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 6–9 months related experience coordinating recreational programs.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have valid Florida driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and participates in a wide variety of recreation activities for different age groups and interests.
• Organizes and assists with the execution of city-sponsored events.
• Ensures rules and regulations are being adhered to during rentals of facilities.
• May supervise volunteers when necessary.
• Assists supervisors with administrative details involved in organized sports programs and facility rentals.
• Instructs individuals or groups in rules of games, skill development and safety.
• Maintains playground and recreation center equipment and games.
• Responsible for inventory control.
• Coordinates with volunteers and vendors to address complaints and bring issues to the attention of supervisors.
• Performs related work as required.
• May work nights, weekends or odd schedules and may periodically work alone.
• This position is part of the City's Emergency Management Team and may perform duties during emergencies.
