Job summary

The City of Maitland is hiring for a Parks & Recreation Worker to support the park system, assist with events, maintenance, and fee collection, and enforce park rules. The role operates under the Parks & Recreation Director and supports Farmers Market, classes, and athletics duties in Maitland, Florida.

This position is designated as an emergency/disaster worker and requires readiness to report during emergencies.

Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
Must be able to work evenings, early mornings, weekends, and “split” shifts.
Must be comfortable communicating with the public regarding program or event information, promotions, or regulations.
Pass City of Maitland screening requirements.
Must possess strong customer services skills and the ability to communicate effectively to clientele.
Ability to read, write, and complete necessary reporting regarding departmental activities.

Responsibilities

Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of parks and recreation facilities.
Interacts with patrons utilizing or reserving park facilities and collects appropriate fees.
Enforces park rules and city ordinances.
Maintains daily reports and assists with event operations (Farmers Market, special events) and athletics activities.
Opens/closes park facilities and monitors tennis courts.
Supports daily duties such as forms, reports, phones, and messages.
