Job summary

New York State Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation is seeking a Park Worker 3 to perform and assist with maintenance and repair tasks across park facilities, equipment and grounds. The role involves operating heavy equipment, snow removal, and supporting emergency procedures as part of a dedicated team.

The candidate should have at least one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and training, plus a valid driver’s license and ability to work varied shifts

Qualifications

• One year of experience in operation/maintenance of a park, historic site, golf course, or recreational facility.
• One year of experience in security, firefighting, EMS, environmental education, natural resources, historic preservation/interpretation, or landscaping/grounds maintenance.
• One year of military service in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
• Thirty semester credits from an accredited college or university.
• Two-year technical/trades school program completed.

Responsibilities

• Operate and perform routine maintenance on power-driven equipment (trucks, mowers, power saws, etc.).
• Load/unload cargo; perform building, road, and grounds maintenance; restroom cleaning.
• Operate dump trucks, loaders, plow trucks; assist with trails and park equipment repairs.
