Job summary

Frederick County Government is seeking a full‑time Parks Maintenance Technician to support the operation of county parks and facilities. The role involves operating a wide range of equipment, performing groundskeeping and ballfield work, and assisting with basic construction, plumbing and electrical tasks, under the Parks Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of work experience in park maintenance, facilities maintenance, grounds maintenance or related field work including at least 1 year directing or supervising others.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operate a wide variety of small and large equipment for construction, maintenance, repair and removal of parks and county facilities and grounds.
• Perform mowing, weed-eating, and routine grounds maintenance.
• Perform ballfield maintenance, including grading, lining, and preparation of athletic fields for community use.
• Assist with planning general construction projects, including electrical, carpentry, masonry, cleaning and custodial duties.
• Perform basic plumbing and electrical work to support facility operations and maintenance.
• Perform basic mechanical work on vehicles, equipment, and tools to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Provide supervision in the supervisor's absence; coordinate tools, equipment, materials and supplies.
• Perform basic snow removal tasks.
