Job summary

The City of Pleasanton invites applications for the Park Landscape Maintenance Worker I, an entry-level role supporting Pleasanton’s 46 parks, 45 miles of trails, and over 800 acres of open space. Working under a Lead Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform a wide variety of landscaping and park maintenance tasks to enhance safety, beauty, and enjoyment of public spaces.

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about the outdoors, works well independently and in a team, and is safety-conscious.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and one year of landscape maintenance experience.
• Ability to operate tools and equipment safely in outdoor environments.
• Willingness to learn and follow City safety protocols.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a crew.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate and maintain landscape equipment under supervision.
• Perform turf maintenance and landscape upkeep in parks.
• Maintain playgrounds, trails, and open spaces.
• Inspect and assist with irrigation systems to support water conservation.
• Apply basic pesticide/ herbicide per IPM plan when trained.
• Assist with carpentry repairs and park infrastructure upgrades.
