Job summary

County of Los Angeles is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker I to perform routine duties maintaining park, beach, and public grounds. You will plant care, mow lawns, trim hedges, and prepare outdoor spaces for events, with supervision as needed.

The role requires certification in the PLACE program within the last year, a California driver license, and the ability to lift 25+ pounds as part of the job. This is a county civil service exam with multiple shifts and onboarding expectations.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Grounds Maintenance Worker Preparation Program within the last 12 months.
• Must upload certificate at filing or within seven calendar days.
• Valid California Class C Driver License is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain planted areas near public buildings, golf courses, parks and beaches.
• mow, edge, sweep lawns with rider mowers and related equipment.
• Care for flowers, shrubs, and trees including watering and pruning.
• Clean floors, windows, restrooms and dispose of waste as needed.
• Prepare grounds for athletic events and setup tables/chairs.
• Operate tools and equipment safely under supervision when required.
